Vision and Aims of Council and Partnership

We want children to be healthy, at the centre of everything we do so that they can make a positive contribution, have fun, and enjoy growing up. We want to build a community for them that keeps them safe, supports their creativity and enables them to meet their potential.

Child population

There are about 60,000 under 16s in Enfield (mid-2008). There is expected to be little change in the number of children overall, in the next five years. The 5-9s may increase by 9%.

School pupil data

There are about 50,300 pupils in Enfield’s state schools. There are 95 languages spoken by pupils in these schools. There has been an improvement in the proportion of pupils attaining 5 GCSEs at A*-C grades including English and Maths, from 43.0% in 2006 to 47.7% in 2008.

One of the key priorities for the Partnership is to tackle child poverty in the Borough. Enfield has high levels of child poverty in some parts of the area:
