What is the site all about?
Vision
“To create a unique educational project that will assist in improving the quality of life of children and young people in Enfield. Using the thoughts and opinions of the children and young people of the community, the local strategic partnership can ensure services and strategies can be better tailored to children. Placing children and young people at the centre of this project will provide a sense of ownership of a product produced for Enfield, and therefore promote respect for the community, support their creativity and enable them to meet their full potential.”
Aim
To create a website that holds information about Enfield borough, that children and young people want to see, in a way that they want to see it. The data observatory will be for children and young people in Enfield created by children and young people in Enfield. It will also have a consultation function that will allow the Enfield Strategic Partnership to gage the thoughts and opinions of children and young people in the borough.

The website holds information about the borough (including key statistics and tables of data) and is presented in a way that appeals to children and young people of Enfield.

The project is designed by and for the children and young people in Enfield to provide a way for them to contribute to the wider community and learn how they can make a difference to that community. It holds information about Enfield that is relevant to children and young people living and learning in the area. Data is suited to a wide range of age groups - depending on the depth of analysis/ extent to which the tool is used. (e.g. simple population numbers versus queries of more complex data).

Who is the site for?
The clients are children, young people and educators from various levels. Teachers are able to incorporate the website into lessons as the EYO will be closely linked with the national curriculum. Children are able to use it to find information about Enfield for homework and for interest. It also has a consultancy function, which enables children of Enfield to give their opinions by completing on-line surveys.

The Enfield Youth Observatory is a service produced for and funded by the Enfield Strategic Partnership and managed by the Enfield Observatory Team within Enfield Council.
