Enfield Council has 63 councillors with 3 from each of our 21 wards.
Since May 2002, Enfield has operated a Cabinet and Leader model of decision making. They were one of the first councils to modernise the decision making process.
The Cabinet is a group of councillors that meet every 3/4 weeks to take executive decisions.
Enfield Council has a strong and independent scrutiny function. Their role is to question and challenge executive decisions, contribute to Council policy and suggest ways in which Council and partner services can be improved.
The Council is committed to working with the local community to improve services. They have introduced Area Forums and Community Housing Partnerships to give local people the chance to influence the decisions that the Council makes on their behalf. They also publish a Forward Plan to give advance notice of the key decisions the Council will be taking and a twice weekly decision list setting out the decisions that have been taken. © Enfield Council
